The price of each project is set before starting to work, along with the delivery date and conditions. So that we can give you a proper quote, we need to have the original document and define the delivery date, the languages to work with, the difficulty of the text and any other special considerations of the project.
Number of words
This is the first factor that determines the price of a project. The source text is the original document sent by the client, while the target text is the translated document. Palabras del Plata prepares every quote taking into account the number of words of the source text. Thereby, the client knows with absolute certainty the total cost of the service before entrusting the job to us. This constitutes a great advantage to the client, who would be uncertain about the final price if, instead, the quote was prepared taking into account the number of words of the target text.
Difficulty of the subject matter
The difficulty of each text also determines the price of a project. Technical, scientific and/or legal texts require a more detailed research process, which sometimes includes consulting specialists such as doctors, engineers and architects. Therefore, the price of this kind of projects is always higher.
Languages
The language combination of a project —namely, the language in which the source text is written and the language into which the text will be translated— is another factor to be considered at the time of preparing a quote. Length of the video/audio
In the case of translations or transcriptions of audiovisual material, the principal factor that is considered to determine the price is the length of the material given by the client. In any case, it is also important that we receive good-quality videos or audios, so as not to impose surcharges on the standard rates.
Legalizations
As regards certified or sworn translations, the charge for the corresponding legalization will be added to the price of the translation. In these cases, a surcharge will also be included in the quote whenever the legalization is urgent.

The legalization is the verification of the signature and seal, the control of the professional’s registration validity and the formal control of the submitted documentation, together with the subsequent devolution of the stamped documentation and the corresponding legalization form numbered and signed by competent authority.
