Translation for dubbing and subtitling
The translation of texts for motion pictures or TV shows involves an interesting challenge. Broadly speaking, there are two ways of expressing a translated text in a video: dubbing and subtitling.
A subtitle is a printed statement or fragment of dialogue appearing as a translation or transcription of the original text in a foreign language which appears at the bottom (or, sometimes, at the top) of the screen. Dubbing implies the substitution of the voice of the actors or actresses of a movie or TV show in a certain language for identical dialogues in a different language. That is why it is important to perform a good-quality translation and a good adjustment for the corresponding synchronization.
Both techniques have their own peculiarities, pros and cons. Anyway, for both of them it is necessary to clearly and accurately determine the best way to adapt the text that will be read or heard.
